JWU Falls At Clinton

Rock Hill, SC - The Johnson & Wales Charlotte women's basketball team suffered their first loss of the 2022 calender year, falling 86-66 at Clinton on Wednesday night.

How It Happened:
  • Clinton scored the game's first 7 points before Tanaeschia Dorsey ran off 9 straight points to put JWU up 2. 
  • The Golden Bears made 13 trips to the foul line in the balance of the quarter, converting 9 of them to build a 25-15 advantage after 10 minutes.
  • The second quarter saw JWU continue to shoot the ball poorly as the Wildcats were just 9-30 from the field in the first half, while Clinton shot 43% in building a 48-24 halftime advantage.
  • JWU's shooting improved slightly in the 3rd, but Clinton's rebounding and defense only allowed the Wildcats to trim 2 points off of their hafltime deficit.
  • Mariana Ballard's trio of fourth quarter threes got JWU as close as 17 points, but another second half comeback against the Golden Bears was not in the cards.

  • Clinton outrebounded JWU 58-47 and forced 20 Wildcat turnovers. 
  • The Golden Bears were 24-33 at the charity stripe, while JWU was just 9-13.
  • Tanaeschia Dorsey led JWU in scoring with 21 points. She also had 5 rebounds and 4 assists.
  • Mariana Ballard had 12 points on 4-7 three point shooting.
  • Jordan McDuffie posted another double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds.
  • JWU falls to 13-3 and 5-1 in the EMAC. Clinton improves to 12-2 and 5-1 in the EMAC.
