Virginia Beach, VA - Less than 22 hours after defeating Mid-Atlantic Christian at home, the Johnson & Wales women's basketball team kept their perfect EMAC record in tact with a 64-39 win at Regent University.
How It Happened:
- The Royals scored the game's first four points and led for about the first seven and a half minutes of the first period.
- Jayla Lovett's layup with 91 seconds remaining in the period put JWU up for good, a prelude to a huge day from Lovett.
- That basket was part of a 12-2 run that spanned the first and second quarters that saw the Wildcats go from down one point to up by 9.
- The 2nd period was the real turning point in the game. The Royals were held to only 9 points on 4-15 shooting, while JWU got points from 7 different players in the stanza, as they shot 53.3% from the field.
- The stellar defensive effort continued in the third quarter, as JWU allowed a lone basket from Regent and six total points.
