Asheville. NC – The Apprentice Men's Basketball team hit the road for their second conference game of the season, as they faced fellow USCAA and EMAC member Warren Wilson College.  These two teams are no strangers to each other, and the Builders knew it would take everything they had to come away with the win.  It would be a pivotal game in the EMAC standings and Apprentice was looking to set the pace in the fight for a top seed.

Warren Wilson took the early lead 2-0 after getting the ball inside, but Marion Moore answered with a driving layup of his own.  Jayden Eason added two free throws and then the defense responded with a turnover to get the ball back.  However, the Owls were able to get a stop and come down to hit a 3-pointer to regain the lead, 6-4, but Corey Joyner answered with a slashing drive to the basket, tying the game.  Jayden Eason was able to get inside and drain a short turnaround jumper to, once again, give the Builders the advantage.  Apprentice began to find it's rhythm and with 9:35 remaining in the half, they had their largest lead of the game, 18-15.  An offensive put back from Clifton Goode increased the lead to 5 points, which was followed by a fast break layup by Avin Hawkins giving the Builders the 7-point lead, forcing Warren Wilson to call a time out.  After the time out, the Owls mounted a comeback and cut the lead to three, until Adrion Wall connected on a long 3-pointer to put Apprentice up 27-21.  Avin Hawkins would hit a driving layup at the buzzer, sending the Builders into the locker room with the halftime lead, 29-23.

As the second half began, Corey Joyner stole the inbound pass and drove it to the basket for the quick 2 points.  After some strong defensive possessions, Caleb Mielewsjki found Marion Moore down low for a turnaround basket and all of the sudden Apprentice had a 10-point lead, 33-23.  After a defensive steal by Corey Joyner, he found Mielewski for another layup to give them the largest lead of the game at 12 points.  Another steal and fastbreak layup forced Warren Wilson to call a timeout with the Builders leading, 42-25.  The Owls would begin to make a comeback and cut the lead to 11 points, until Marion Moore took a pass for a fast break layup and with 12:28 left in the game, Apprentice would have the lead, 48-34.  After some back and forth, the Builders were called for a technical foul and Warren Wilson pulled to within 11 points after making the 2 free throws.  After the Owls were able to cut the lead to 10 pints, Corey Joyner found Caleb Mielewski for a layup to go up, 62-50.  However, Warren Wilson started to chip away at the lead and after a 3-pointer with 2:32 reaming, the Builders only led 64-58.  Marion Moore would get the lead back to 8 points, and then the defense would force a turnover to get the ball back.  Free throws from Adrion Wall put the game away and as time ran out, Apprentice would come away with another road conference win, 74-63.

The Builders were led by Marion Moore who finished the game with 24 points and 8 rebounds, while Corey Joyner added 13 points on the night.  It will be a quick turnaround for Apprentice as they head to South Carolina for a Saturday afternoon EMAC match-up against Clinton College.  Tip off is scheduled for 4:00pm.
