EMAC Men's Basketball Player of the Year and All-Conference Teams Announced

Charlotte, NC - The Eastern Metro Athletic Conference announced its 2019-2020 Men's Basketball All-Conference Teams and Player of the Year today. The league's head coaches nominated and then voted on deserving players based on their performances throughout the season. 

Robert Hobson of Johnson & Wales was the leading vote getter, and and such was named Conference Player of the Year. Hobson led the EMAC in scoring with 20.7 points per game. That number rose to 22.5 ppg in conference contests. He also ranked 9th in FG% (42.9), 4th in 3PT% (38.7), and 2nd in FT% (79.6). His free throw percentage ranks 13th nationally in USCAA D-II. He also ranked in the top 10 in both assists and steals per game. Hobson scored in double-figures 22 times this season, and topped the 30 point mark on five occasions. He also leads USCAA D-II in three pointers made (92).

Hobson is joined on the first team by Drew Walton of The Apprentice School. Walton is the only EMAC player to average a double-double during the season (15.6 points, 11.0 rebounds). His 53.2% field goal shooting is 4th best in the conference, and 16th best nationally in the USCAA D-I. Walton has 16 double-figure rebounding games this season, with two 20+ rebound performances. Mid-Atlantic Christian's Kevin Fletcher also earned 1st Team All-Conference Honors. Fletcher averages 19.1 points per game, ranking 2nd in the EMAC, and is 8th best in the USCAA D-I. His 1.7 steals per game is 2nd best in the conference. Brent Davis from Warren Wilson is the conference's 5th best scorer at 16.5 ppg and the 4th best rebounder at 7.5 rpg. He scored in double-figures in all but three of the Owls' contests this season, and crested the 20 point plateau on seven occasions. JWU's Majerle Poole is the final member of the 1st Team. Poole averaged 17.6 points per game during the season, 4th best in the league. That number jumped to 18.5 ppg in league play. He was also the 5th best rebounder in the league with 6.6 boards per contest, and ranked 4th in steals per game with 1.6.

The EMAC All-Conference 2nd Team consists of Corey Joyner (Apprentice), Jabari Richardson (Mid-Atlantic Christian), Cameron Shannon (Clinton), Antonio Smith (Johnson & Wales), and Anthony Williams, II (Clinton).
