Regent University Becomes 6th EMAC Member

Charlotte, NC - The Eastern Metro Athletic Conference is excited to announce the addition of Regent University to the conference after a vote by the conference's board of directors. Regent will begin competing in the EMAC immediately for the 2021-22 season.

Regent University was founded in 1978 and serves approximately 11,000 students on its 70 acre campus in Virginia Beach, Va. Regent offers undergraduate degrees both on campus and online in more than 150 programs. It's degree programs are consistently ranked among the best in the state, and its online degree programs are currently ranked best in the state by U.S. News and World Report. It holds accrediation from eight accrediting bodies, including the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges. 

Regent University is honored to become a member of the EMAC in men's and women's basketball beginning with the 2021-2022 season," said Regent Athletic Director and Head Men's Basketball Coach Sam Botta. "On behalf of Regent University, I am grateful for the opportunity to join and compete alongside outstanding colleges and universities that make up the EMAC. Regent Athletics is committed to helping build upon the strong collegiality and exemplary sportsmanship that typifies the EMAC conference and it's member schools."

Regent currently offers nine varsity sports. Women's volleyball, men's and women's soccer, and men's and women's cross country compete in the fall, while men's and women's basketball compete during the winter seasons. regent also sponsors men's and women's track and field that competes in the spring.

Eastern Metro Athletic Conference Trudi Lacey reflected the thoughts of the conference board of directors with her thoughts about the addition of Regent. "Since the inception of the EMAC we have been looking for quality universities such as Regent to join our conference.  We are pleased to have another competitor which will only make our conference that much stronger."

The Royals' men's and women's basketball teams will play their inaugural conference basketball games on December 7th as they travel to Mid-Atlantic Christian.
